Let's have some positivity!

I've been observing the forums for the past few days and I am seeing only hate and disappointment and bitterness surrounding most of the threads, and in turn it's making me feel very bitter and miserable. So I decided to make a thread to speak positively about the Sims 4 since there really aren't a lot of other threads like that.

And when there are, someone comes along just to do literally the opposite of the thread's intent.

So, let's just talk about some good things about The Sims 4! I shall start:

  • This game looks really good! I love the art style of this game, and it makes everything more visually appealing in general.
  • Toddlers. They are the best iteration of the life stage that I have ever seen. They're fun to play with and have older Sims teach and take care of, and they have more things to do than in, say, Sims 2.
  • The Supernaturals we have in Sims 4 are more fleshed out, imo, than any of the other Sims games. Vampires and Spellcasters have their own level up systems giving them neat new powers and allowing you to customize them. Vampires even get weaknesses, like random hissing or being even more endangered when in the sun, and magic for Spellcasters is a lot of fun (if pretty game breaking!)
  • The Build mode is so much more fun to mess around with. Mistakes are very easy to fix without having to bulldoze a ton of things, and moving rooms and the house around the lot is incredibly useful!
  • The Sims themselves. I know a lot of people are having issues with their personality, but I don't really see it personally? Traits could do more but I'm happy with the way they act and the way they look in general, very easy to create visually impressive Sims.
  • The worlds may not be open but I do enjoy playing in them! You can still move freely within your Sim's district, unless going into another lot. There are lots of Sims walking around and there is usually a common area like a park or a barbecue location where Sims tend to gather to. Helps that they look nice as well.
  • The holidays in Sims 4 Seasons are fun, if a bit silly. A random holiday happened in one of my saves where the sole purpose was to go around and start fights with people in the neighborhood. That was fun!

There are probably more things I like that I can't think of at the moment. What are your favorite things about The Sims 4?

When the developers recycle "old ideas" (packs like seasons, pets, etc.) the community is dissatisfied. If the developers bring in "new ideas", such as Eco Livestyle, people complain too.

Those complaints from two camp of groups, both with valid critiques. I never heard somebody complaining that "ugh, seasons/pets are back, eww" unless those who wished it was in the base game.

While the cons of it outweigh my enjoyment of playing it, there are however certain aspects named here that I like from this game.

I'm wondering too if we'll be getting dovecotes in the new pack as SimGuruDoi put a picture of one on his twitter feed. That would be another thing to be positive about. More birds in game?

I'm pretty sure that's a reference to one of the crossword sessions Doi did on twitch where "cotes" was an answer to a clue.

Would be nice to have though. Maybe in the future?
  • Yeh it's definitely not bad and seeing a lot of people who didn't pay enough attention to the game it was always "Gimme the packs" i admit EA didn't help that and still don't... LOL but it feels very TS2, the main things people are disappointed about is how long it's taking them to add what the game needs into the game again mainly the Base Game and it feels like THAT'S mainly the game now not the Packs that adds just little things but keeping the little "extras" out will honestly be the best thing for you to do, with TS3 i feel like that was more experimental but they back tracked into TS2 with The Sims 4 LOL good job they did really, it just wasn't appealing to as many people.

I've watched a lot of Gameplay so far and i was as immersed as TS2 really but always add a stereo in your game and music in Community Lots, i feel it's then boring without it because it's just silence and then chatter we need that music in the background humming away on low to really help set the mood THAT'S my advice for new players. Every house i built i put in a stereo because honestly the sims really want it too and if Music and Dance is what they were best at then you wouldn't have found that out until you got them to dance, sometimes i turned it off but but left the stereo on for sims LOL, the Toddler loved it especially i love it when they they crawled over to it and started doing a jig on the floor hehe :D I only just came in because it didn't catch me before because they took so long i mean... i wish i didn't have to wait month after month for certain things but it just gets me excited all over again too LOL.
  • I definitely prefer the graphics over what TS3s graphics looks like it's just perfect and more crystal clear with a nice dreamy look it has a nice Landscape Painting look and the sims are back to their cute selves :) the color swatches are definitely enough i can never get a handle on color wheels in software that has it and a lot of them don't even have anywhere i can insert HTML or CC Color Code into it, if that wasn't harder for kids to understand that could be useful with the colors inbuilt into the game so we can make any wallpaper, floor or object any color we like i dunno... i mean we can go on websites now where we can literally just select a color or use a Dropper Tool then Copy and Paste the Color Code it's something to think about.

I think Willow Creek and Oasis Springs are going to be my favorites it will be the only two i have but there's already quite a number of families to play, Pleasantview and Riverblossom Hills is my fave in TS2 but i'm glad it gave me one with a sandy terrain so i'm not playing the grassy ones all the time lol. I'm really glad Maxis stepped in again i really am they've done great with it especially giving us more in the Base Game since the Packs are more Sandbox Packs again and definitely for the kiddies lol. The shadows are gorgeous and in the right places this time where there's TS2 and 3 where a lot of people just disabled them. When it goes to night time too it's absolutely magical looking :O i can't wait to build some Gardens with Fairy Lights.
