Not necessary. I mean, if you play on normal aging then your, let's say, kid will age up into teenager after 14 days, but the default length of season is 7 days, so only 2 season will pass. You can make it so the birthdays are always on the same season, but it would involve tweaking the lenghts of seasons and/or Sims' lives (or you can just turn aging off, like you said).
