Let's talk gardening!
Gardening is one of my favourite aspects of the Sims, and I know there are other players obsessed with their Sim plants, so I thought I'd start a thread for sharing tips, tricks, questions and annoyan...

@Gwiniel, I do a combination of both decorative and for profit/food gardening. In my main household garden (that I mentioned earlier in the thread), over half of the plants were decorative. Both you and @luxsylvan touched on how time consuming it would be to harvest everything with a lot of actual gardened flowers....but that's the thing, if they are decorative you DON'T harvest from them. Once they bloom, you leave them alone....so that they stay pretty.
The front flower bed for the house is a combination of grown flowers and static (non-gardening ones), and I rotate in different plants from family inventory depending on the season and what will bloom. This gives the flower bed seasonal color. It's 0 effort for my sims because all it needs is water and weeding, and I pay a gardener to do that. I only harvest it right at the end of the season. If I were working on flower-arranging skill, of course, I'd harvest more.
I'd take some shots of it to share, but I changed active lots earlier today. The eldest son of my main household grew to adulthood and he has moved to the city. I always control the heir-apparent of each generation in my game, which means my active-play moved with him. The only garden i have now is two plants I am growing indoors. Sad me.
