About the conversation above regarding positiveness of pollution: the way I understood it, the "positive effects" were in regards to using the items which have an industrial footprint (and thus negatively affect pollution) instead of those with a green footprint.
So it's not "pollution is good" but "technology isn't all bad".

In my opinion, calling the team "pollution apologists" is way too big a leap from game mechanics to the real world.
