So after the whole debacle with games crashing and more bugs popping up, I've decided to delay purchasing the new EP. I watched LGR's review yesterday and I was slightly disappointed after his review...

Question: Is the lifestyles bit and rental lots tied to this game? Or have they been added to the base game during the update (I haven't played since my game kept crashing)

These are things I could imagine enhancing my fun, but I don't want to purchase a pack just for these.
I used to base packs off of their CAS, but after starting to use CC, I don't really care so much... I'm more after meaningful gameplay.
