Life and Death Negative thread

The only negative is that the world is too sunny .I wish for more cloudy world

• I haven't seen anything about zombies. When are we getting them, if at all? I know they want to focus on ghosts.
• They're reusing the specters from Paranormal Stuff, but they just swapped their palettes.
• The village area looks very small, with a ton of non-interactive set dressing to make it look fuller. 
• Worried how they'll get funeral to work, considering My Wedding Stories is STILL having issues.
• It doesn't look like we'll actually be able to see or access a Netherworld location or something. Maybe we'll see it in the gameplay trailer. But if we don't get it, it'd be pretty disappointing that the pack seems to focus entirely on the living, of ghosts in the world of the living.
• "Disappear into a Crypt." Dang it, it's a rabbit hole, isn't it?
• Festivals. They're better than nothing, but The Sims 4 has terrible festivals. Here's hoping they actually make them unique and interesting, instead of just having your sim do a couple of interactions for a minute, buying a new shirt, and then just standing around and talking for 6 hours because there's nothing else to do.
• Moon Revelry sounds so lame. Like you can swim, talk in front of a bonfire, dance, and be nude... Which you can already do. Not very groundbreaking.

The funeral part of the trailer gives me a huge "My Wedding Stories" reskin vibes, and the blog post mentions Haunted Houses, I just hope they're not borrowing too much from the Paranormal SP and selling it as new content. 

Pleaseeeeee don't autonomously do push ups next to a coffin during funerals 

Also, I hope this EP comes with a reworked Simology panel. There are too many submenus in there it's such a hassle if you have all EPs, it keeps getting bigger and bigger. 

I like what I see but the biggest negative to me is death and ghosts and playing as the grim reaper doesn’t really fit my playstyle much.  

I seem to like HSY and lovestruck more than most because they really fit my playstyle.  And so I might not like this as much as others do.  But it was a pretty strong trailer I think.

I'm usually more kind but the recent leaks about all these sims mobile games and no sims5 have put me in a bad mood. 

Funerals that looks like weddings from my wedding stories, I don't trust that anything will work as intended from your trailer, just fake animations and reactions. Sure, add some sims arguing like some sort of story. Whatever.

Another slightly themed world, we only have five billion of them. I'm sure there are some rabbit holes there.

The bucket list looks like normal aspirations to me, sure, call that a gameplay feature, whatever.

Oh hey look, it's a reskinned magic realm. Let me guess, the grim reaper is your teacher or something.

Locking the family portrait behind a pre-order, what, you are not gonna sell it as a microtransaction?

An excerpt from the blog post I'm curious about (with these parts in bold):

For some Sims, leaving life behind is hard to do. With The Sims 4 Life & Death Expansion Pack, players can let their Sims linger on as playable household members where they can wreak havoc on the living or lend a helping hand. Ghost Sims who build special connections with each other can also pair up for a special, spectral Woohoo inside objects of all shapes and sizes. As Sims adjust to their playable Ghost Sims form, they can customize their looks in CAS, build Ghost Powers and even earn Fear or Goodwill essences from their interactions with the living to make simoleons. Yes, there is still room to grow in the afterlife!

What do they mean by that? I really hope they aren't saying these as empty marketing words to pad out the blog's content (ghosts can already be part of the household and you can change their appearance in CAS).

Also, the rebirth thing... Why aren't the sims starting from the newborn phase?

And Bucket List goals... Please I hope that it'll be cross-pack compatible! I hope it will include occult stuff too. Growing Together did well-ish... But High School Years pre-patch really messed it up bad.

Pack seems interesting, but I can't help but be... Skeptical... (get it?)

This will be the first expansion I do not buy. After a world wide pandemic killed so many and caused world wide mourning on an epic scale, I think this dark side expansion is macabre. New death types and new ways to mourn? A funeral party? An afterlife of more chores to complete, that were never finished during life? A "reward" of having to be born back into the game to do it all over again? Grim as a "nice guy" you want to emulate and then become? 

So the sims franchise's answer to what lies ahead is ... nothing but chores and the ability to recycle if you work hard enough. Lots of ghosts, but no angels. An eerie half life location where you wait to recycle, but no heaven.

One thing I have (previously) admired about the sims franchise is their ability to balance the light and dark side so people could choose to play either one or a combo of both. But this is decidedly glorifying ONLY the dark side, timed to Halloween. With no light side option. 

I had hoped for angel wings and harps, at a minimum. I had hoped for a "heavenly" realm to play in where dead sims got a new body to enjoy a new immortal afterlife with their dead loved ones. They could have at least given us that along with all the other stuff they wanted to promote. A bit of a nod to the light side for those of us who wanted to play that option. Instead we got TWO dark side locations along with one half life waiting zone. But no light side location. 

This expansion is more than a disappointment. It is the death of the sims as I once knew it. They chose to go dark. 

I see a lot to like about the pack. I'm nervous about rebirth which seems like it's bringing in religion. I prefer to have the Sims stay out of that area and let Simmers do as they wish.

If one religious belief is brought into the game, how will the Sims play fair with all the many varied beliefs out there?

Many rebirth is not reincarnation, but is a new form of resurrection where the Sim is returned to life but at a younger life stage. I can see this working better with the quirkiness of the Sims, and it could even have a sci fi twist.

For me, the biggest disappointment is the world. It's got a cool name, but a lame design by the looks of it.

Why couldn't we have had an atmosphere similar to Forgotten Hollow, Moonlight Falls or Midnight Hollow? Why is it always sunshine and rainbows huh? It kinda looks like there's a small secluded part of the world that's more spooky and eerie, but the rest is just the same old, colourful, vibrant, and overly perfect looking world. Occult players are crying out for a full-sized world with a darker vibe to it. Why is this always overlooked?

I don't even care about gameplay anymore. I know it will be half-baked content and probably have no replay value whatsoever.

All I cared about was the world with this expansion, and it's already a let down.

and that bucket list thing cause I'm worried its like likes and dislikes and I have to set it for all my sims so they don't autonomously choose nonsense things behind my back -again.

like why can't we just have button for no autonomously choosing simology things life would be so much easier

and then I just have the usual complaints of: 1. I saw a croptop and 2. still don't like exclusive limited items being exclusive and limited

also no Simmingal will not be participating in the nude ...thing. 😅 I sure hope I can change it to less nude...thing or protect my poor eyes otherwise
