Life of my Erratic Sim...help :-)

So, I play generationally, and I'm on gen 39. I have my own rules, but when a new heir is born I roll a dice and select 2 traits from my sims parents to inherit, and then choose the final trait when the heir ages up to YA based on the direction their life has started taking. (I like to make each generation a bit random, to keep it interesting).

My current heir has Loves the Outdoors and Erratic as their traits inherited from his parents. But I'm not sure which direction to take my sim in. I want to make the most of the erratic trait (often traits don't really mean anything). His dad is a spellcaster, doctor and loves climbing, and they go on regular holidays to the mountains. His mum is erratic and enjoys science and fitness.
My heir is a spellcaster too. My original idea was that he would develop a love for snowboarding, grow up and move to the mountains and live a free and fun life as a snowboarder, making money from videos and photos of snowboarding. But then the paranormal pack was announced. Do I buy the paranormal pack and have him discover the paranormal? So when he looks like he's talking to himself from his erratic trait, he might actually be talking to ghosts? This seems fun too.

Do I make him good and eccentric, or a bad type who develops a bad reputation? Maybe turn him into a criminal? Or a heartbreaker where he is always cheating?

What do you think? Looking for ideas

Interesting. I have always associated the erratic trait with artistic Sims. My favourite erratic Sim was a painter with an art gallery (retail lot) where she sold easels and her own paintings. The changing emotions can be beneficial to exploring the creation of different types of paintings, literature and music. And I think it could be fun to have an erratic artist living in a haunted house. Actually this might be something I will try myself, now that I'm thinking about it. :)

Funny you should say that. My Global Superstar's mother is Erratic. She's a known Intergalactic Artists in my mini-series. She paints and when Life is just too much for her, she paints as if that's all there is. It's her means of hiding, if you will. ;)

To the OP's question. Since you already employ the dice, affix the odds/even to the ideas you've had and then roll. Both of your ideas are appealing and a measure of chance might help you out a bit in your decision making. :)
  • Creative and Mean both go really well with an erratic. Erratics can be mean even to their best friend so you can amplify that. Creative is fun because the erratic sim has random moods so they can paint a variety of emotional works. Also, an Outgoing Erratic really ups the number of weird socials they do.

  • @Netzspannung That does sound like a lot of fun :)
@CelSims Oh boy, thanks for the warning! I better move him out of Newcrest asap :D
@GalacticGal Yes that's a good idea. I use the dice quite a lot to make smaller decisions, but this seems like a good time to do it for some larger life changing events ;)
@Kerrigan I was thinking about making him mean, I always seem to create nice sims who get a pristine reputation. I've always wanted to try creating someone who gets the really bad reputation! He could be a mean and eccentric arty type, who becomes famous for being an amazing artist but completely unlikeable :D >:)

Already sounds like a very interesting Sim!
  • I've never knew exactly what to do with erratic sims. I usually paired them with gloomy, as i thought that this made sense somehow but, in the game, strategically, i thought they were of no use besides for drama... now i'll be using this trait for painters! What a nice insightful tip!

As for op question, i see you already have a very cool plot :) happy simming :)
