It's a nice throwback to earlier games but more importantly it's nice that my sims will have a bad event to deal with. There isn't many "bad events".
It'll be awesome if they spread. Like maybe your sim is Neat and wouldn't normally get vermin, but the Slob neighbour's apartment or communal area (under a slum landlord's care) IS infested and this effects all the residents in the building.
