As far as no announcements, they can literally be fired for leaking anything without the go-ahead from Marketing. Non-Disclosure Agreements are legal contracts, and a real thing in game studio work.
I'd love to have a roadmap for the spring & summer, sure. But let's not make false statements, or accusations, or conspiracy theories about Maxis not caring. They are actually one of the most player-engaged studios in the business.
I really don't get it, tbh.
It's funny how every other game developer in the world can make roadmaps for their games, but Maxis can't.
Even Anthem (
LOL) had a roadmap. Fat load of good it did them, but Bioware's an EA-owned studio and they managed to
announce a roadmap at the very least. They didn't stick to it, but that's bc Anthem was something of a trainwreck. They still announced one!
Really makes you wonder who made the decision to not do roadmaps for The Sims, when it's something
everybody in the community wants. I honestly don't get it.
Like we're not asking for the world. Just bring back the seasonal teasers. "GP in Spring 2020" sort of stuff.
And if they can't make a Spring release, then just announce a delay. We won't mind.
Well, we won't mind
that much.
