Very true. And let's not forget the fact that sims 3 worlds needed everything in them because sims could not freely visit other worlds (except moving and breaking all ties with their previous home) Sims 3 worlds had to be big enough to contain everything. I 'm so happy we can use all worlds in the same save in sims 4. But the option to edit a world would have been more than welcome.
The bold part is factually incorrect. Using the in-game "Move to a different neighborhood" interaction allows to move your family to another world and KEEP your ties/relationships. In fact, all Sims your family know are protected, so you can invite them to stay at your house as foreign visitor and even ask them to move in (and then move them to another house if you want)."VentusMatt;c-16988776" wrote:
As of now if you own every pack that adds a world (not including OR, JA or special lots) there are 157 playable lots lots.
How much money do you have to spend to have all those lots? ;)
There are custom worlds which have over 180 lots (Alpine County). Or even really small worlds with 125 lots very close together (Plymouth Isle). Furthermore, you can place your own lots, so nothing is stopping you from bulldozing some 64x64 lots and replacing them with four 16x16 lots if you choose so. In the case of Lucky Palms it can fit at least 30 or more lots of various sizes connected to roads.
I agree as I am not proud to pay for extra space when in the past I did not have to pay for it as it was optional. However this an new generation that is here and EA/Maxis is taking avantage of it.
As to expense of them both, I spent a fortune on buying computers that could play the previous iteration. It still has problems on my gaming laptop and still needs using mods. Sims 4 I can even play on my small laptop (with video card) on a train journey or taking away on holiday.
All the games have pluses and minuses. I enjoyed all of them, especially 2. That was a golden time for me with cc, Maxis' and others' programs to sort problems out and the general optimism in the forums. I hope EA/Maxis keeps the best of all of them for a possible 5.
Maybe a thread somewhere else (R&S)? about what one would want in a perfect Sims 5 game?
Isn't about time these comparisons came to an end and we each enjoyed the game we like? How much would EA charge for Lucky Palms if it was released today? They daren't try to change the old Simoleon prices from pre 2013 to today's. The cost of living has risen a lot and not comparable.
You see I could care less about cost, I am into features as I am an gamer and not an casual player. I care about features that Sims 3 had beyond buying an world from the store. I did not have to buy an world from the store to have fun. I could build worlds, My own worlds in which you cannot do with Sims 4 that is my hangup and not cost. I am into editing and messing with the lot sizes, you can't do that with Sims 4. However Sims 4 future is written already and as far as Sims 5 if it does show up no one knows how that going to turn out only EA/Maxis knows. I do not hate Sims 4 and it is not all bad but it lacks what I want. I never had problems with Sims 3 unless it was caused by EA/Maxis and never had to use mods to fix anything. But that the thing with computers some will have problems and some will not but one thing I know for sure EA/Maxis is responsible for tweaking what they have and they have an terrible track record in doing so.
Your type of game would be my ideal game too in the best of all possible worlds. All I can hope is that criticisms/praise for the current game, one I enjoy despite its' failings, has helped EA/Maxis to define what a possible Sims 5 should/could be.
I see it as a clinging on to what it sees as its' intellectual copywrite property to ward off other companies trying the concept out thinking EA has given up on the idea, plus someone's silly idea of using an online base to build it on. Paradox has "cims" already, rather like Sid Meier had in his Sim Golf. They just walked round and criticised.
I remember trying to make my own games with "game making" programs in the 80's, 90's but these days it would be impossible, too advanced programming needed, the fashion is for "readymade" and only those with leisure have time to do this but give us the building blocks we could be as inventive as those who use Lego bricks are.
