I don't think I ever have had a vampire breaking in, in any of my games. There has been a lot of them, but they just knock on the door and eventually goes away.
At least, that was until RoM. Now, I give them warm welcomes to the best of my abilities. My spellcaster Sim throws fire on them or turn them into objects, my active Sim got the freezing gun from his science best friend, my mermaid summons the thunder and hopes they get hit. They can visit my lot all politely if they like, but I'll defend it whether it's needed or not.
OnT: I have to test it again, because I'm unsure if family members react to my spellcaster Sim anymore, or if I just got lucky. Early on, they'd react with surprise everytime he threw a spell, but now...
And boy, do I hope for a 'Magical Supporter' reward trait. My family should have learned to accept my spellcaster Sim and his abilities after all their years together. No more surprise when the spellcaster uses magic, but I'd like it to be fear or anger involved when it's used against them.
P.S - I'm not to keen on the magical world's look. Feels like they overdid it. I'd like a secluded, crammed area - with a bar, a library (castle) where the duelling arena is located, a greenhouse and an oldstyle store where you buy all your stuff. Of course, with the exception of your Sims, who can tag along with their occult friends, only spellcaster Sims visit them. I like the idea of hiding magic for everyone but family and friends.
