Am I the only one (surely not) who sets up a sim to have a chaotic life, throws them into a cheap stinky apartment with a chalk outline under the rug, gives them bad furniture and no money, plans to have them suffer constantly... and then ends up putting them in a nice house, with a good job, the motherlode cheat 800 times, a hot husband and 2.5 cute little children, and fluffy dog? I liked previous games spontaneously making things chaotic for me, because clearly I don’t have the willpower to be mean to pixels. Please tell me I’m not alone :D

You are not alone! I start out so good and give them a career. But then they have like 28 simoleans and need to research something on a computer and I don't want to send them to the library or cafe so I rosebud 'just once' and 'one more time' and before you know it she's got the best computer, the best bed, and I'm putting solar panels on the roof.

You’re not alone at all! I recently made a sim and set him on the path of mischief and being mean (for a change). I felt so guilty at the misery suffered by certain townies that I ended up banishing him to The Forgotten Hollow :P

It's to be expected, most of the people have natural sense of ethics and inborn empathy, that extends even to a fictional characters (that's why we have emotional reactions to movies) :smile:

Playing with the idea of being evil (doing bad things) can be fun and is essential part of our ability to fantasize. However, at the moment of witnessing suffering (even the virtual one) our empathy kicks in and we demonstrate psychological reaction through strong emotion of wishing to end the suffering of other. So, when you start with your wish to make miserable sims it's in a domain of fantasy, however, when you actually see them suffer, your empathy tells you to do the right thing, and you do it because you can (because at least in a game you are in full control over what happen to others hehe) :)

You are not alone! I start out so good and give them a career. I don't mind having my sims suffer. It makes for a good story and I'm a sucker for that. The more drama, the better. It also makes me care for them more because they went through some hard things.

Life is good. Perfect green eco footprint so the garden is wonderful Great house and boyfriend. Life couldn't be better.

Life is... not so great. Industrial footprint so the garden looks like scruff and it produces less. I use Roburky's mods so no happy environment buffs and getting rid of tense-feelings really requires some work now. Cheated away their cash as well so now we have to craft extra stuff on the side to sell.

This is just for now, have a personal challenge going. When my sims have reached my goals we will go back to pampering them :)
