mansion lag?

I really don't have much lag in my game but I have moved my Sims into a beautiful mansion. 3 floors (one section of the house does have a 4th floor section) and a basement. 6 bedrooms....lots of bathrooms. 64 x 64 lot. Huge yard with pool, garden, basketball court, and kids play area. I usually don't have lag but when I play in this mansion, I do have lag. It's frustrating. Could it be just because the lot and house are so large?

  • I used to have lag on bigger lots on my old PC for quite some time. It was very annoying since I was attempting to build a kennel on the 64 x 64 lot in Windenburg in preparations for pets that will, hopefully, at some point arrive. I gave up in the middle and now that I have a better PC I do not experience the lag anymore. I think that large lots, especially filled with many objects, just produce lag on lower to mid end computers so if yours does fall into that range you might want to think about an update - or just do it like I did and stick with 30 x 20 / 40 x 30 lots.
  • It's probably because the lot is so big and has a lot of objects. I almost always get lag when I play using a lot with a ton of objects. The more objects you have= more lag
  • I think it's because the lot is super huge. That's why I will more likely play in either medium-sized homes/lots.

By the way, I think the island in Windenburg can get laggy at times.

This, im playing in high now not ultra, plays much better and looks the same really. I dont see many differences
  • Thanks, all. I love the house my sims are in but I can't deal with the lag. I may have to downsize. :(

I have been through that as well...sad moment. Like hitting an invisiwall :(
  • Is it the size of the lot for sure? What if I use a smaller lot but quite a few floors?
  • I'm assuming it's the Country Side District of Windenburg... Hard to say I don't really get Lag, and I have 4 Large mansions in that neighborhood... Now I don't get lag, but certain days my game would force quit, when loading.

  • Idk if this will help at all, but the most lag for me seems to be caused by sim's cluttered inventories. Do you have sims with a ton of collectibles in their inventory? I have been playing with a garden of 1 of every plant and the sim I garden with always causes bad lag until I sell off all the flowers/herbs/fruits/etc she is holding.

i collect frogs, gems, and everything else but it seems an inventory full of harvested plants causes the most lag and load time issues.
  • Also got the lag in a mansion which I built in Brindleton. My other mansion in Windenburg's village and in the island of Windenburg does not lag as much as the one in Brindleton though. I think the idea to make the mansion with MOO objects off is worth trying
