@Cinebar I get where you are coming from and read through all of the comments so I didn't miss anything  haha
I lightly touched on this inthe MTS forum, but I don't mind mentioning it here again. Inclusivity is a good thing, HOWEVER it is also a bad thing. There is no way one can be 100% inclusive. There are way too many contradictions within inclusivity. I think that's the biggest issue EA/Maxis is facing. They want to be hip, cool, trendy, and inclusive and unfortunately, you cannot please everyone. I know a lot of simmers don't want to hear it, but I'm one of those old simmers that are tired of all these shenanigans that have been going on and I said what I said.
I don't ever recall playing one of the previous iterations thinking, "Hmm it stinks that I can't make my sim the exact shade of brown my skin has.", I was more worried about my sim going to work and getting a chance card where they would lose their job or getting robbed or a fire starting on my lot without me having any alarms. But hey different times and different strokes I guess. :disappointed:
I feel like that beefy gameplay we miss so much got replaced with the "Look at me and who I am". It's all about making your sim or sims in your game represent you and what you identify as or with now. And though that's great and all, we're missing the point of the sims as a game. All of this representation and identity has changed what the game began as it's no longer fun anymore. I would have enjoyed a nice balance of identity, of course, however, this all has been extremely overwhelming.
You can't even start a thread without people coming to their own conclusions about what they think YOU said and despite you clarifying what you said, because it doesn't fit their narrative, you're a bigot or a phobic :D I never understood how saying something someone doesn't see acceptable on their idealistic terms makes you all that but it is what it is I guess :#.
I'm not expecting others to understand what I'm saying, but I'm not going to sugarcoat anything. That's not how I was raised. At the end of it, all this is just a game, and not every game has to have 100% inclusivity/representation, or let me say that be the main focus where there are so many other areas that desperately need improvement. Will my sim be able to run a restaurant without guests playing musical chairs and employees not showing up? Will I be able to finally find that criminal with the correct description given in the detective career? Will I stop seeing sick strays in Brindleton bay all of the flipping time? Will they ever fix simulation lag?
This game has become one big "politically correct" mess where everything that was labeled offensive has changed or been requested to change. Or words needed to be adjusted to not offend others. The latest I saw was an issue with male abduction and "forced" pregnancy :|. Like we've gotten to this point and I'm tired. Just nerf the whole franchise already. If you're getting upset about things that have been in the game for iterations I wouldn't recommend playing previous games.
