I think there is a difference between male body hair and pronouns. Shaving all body hair is a fashion. Nobody felt offended by body hair in the 70's. It's a fashion that came with pornography entering our pop culture and society. Something natural had to go because of a fashionable distaste against body hair. But body hair is a natural thing.
Pronouns however are something people want because they feel the need to convince other people to use pronouns that match their own perception. I think this is something very different.
