Maybe the "new Sims experience" could be optional multiplayer a la Stardew Valley.

I actually wouldn’t mind some multiplayer functionality. I would still want the option to play in my own world, but it could be fun to collaborate on builds, have two players control sims in the neighbourhood simultaneously, or at least be able to visit your friends’ sims and so on. I would enjoy that. But it seems Sims players in general hate the idea so... I don’t think it’ll ever be a thing
