[Mid-Summer Sale] Gluttons for Punishment—What did you buy?

So anyone else a glutton for punishment? Buying or thinking of buying, even though there are so many outstanding issues/bugs at the moment. Off topic, the fact there is another sale so soon, makes me think that there is high need for more digital sales (not just for Sims). On topic, after EbN gameplay I was pack curious and starting this think, what I'd buy on the next sale—oh and here it is XD

What did you buy during the Mid-Summer Sale?

  • I'm not a big occult player, but I recently started a Forever World save (let's see how long it will last 😂) and I would like to keep Cassandra Goth alive in this save as a vampire, so I'm seriously considering getting Vampires 🙈

HollownessDevour I would recommend Growing Together just for the social compatibility and self discovery. I started my current save with all packs disabled except for Seasons and GRO will be one of the first to be added back because I miss these features.

  • In considering what to buy I thought of a couple of question as I am still playing with just then base game. I'm sure many of you will find these silly questions but I'm that new to Sims4.

    1. When someone installs a new pack do all sims in all the worlds begin using the new things in all the worlds, or just the sims their controlling and just in the new world from that new pack?
    2. I moved out or modified all the families that came with the base game in the world I'm spending most of my time in and now have families representing my irl family and the families of friends from throughout my life. If I relocate my family to a new world in a new pack does it effect my Sims relationships with the Sims in the world I move them out of in any way? I mean, I know I can still visit them and they can visit me but am I overlooking anything in that regard?

I don’t use for rent. I enjoyed it when I played it, but I hear there’s so many bugs with it. I just rather leave it alone. The only thing from the pack that gets used in my game is hopscotch.

If you were in a occult player, I guess I recommend vampire pack. I am not in occult player, and I found it very entertaining. It’s a very well made pack.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I love strangerville. I have played through the story more than once. I really wish we would get another story based pack. But when I’m not playing with the story, it is unused in my game. I don’t use anything from the pack. If you like a Western aesthetic, you might cas/BB/world. It comes with a sparring workout object and a military career. If you’re going to find that gameplay repetitive or feel like you’re not going to get your money’s worth out of maybe playing through a pack once, I would skip it.

The world that came with Lovestruck is one of my favorite worlds. I love CAS/BB. But the gameplay is a little thin. I do enjoy the new dates, table top game, picnic blanket, blind dates, supply closet and the very few new animations. The romance satisfaction can sometimes feel overwhelming, but for the most part, I enjoy the . If you don’t care about romance, skip it.

Horse Ranch is just that a horse pack. It feels like a game pack. The world is gorgeous. Horses are very well done. I really enjoy playing with it. If you enjoyed country living, I would say it’s similar to that pack just more limited.

High school years. I actually also enjoy. I’m glad I didn’t pay for it at full price because I do feel like it’s missing some stuff. Following your Sims to high school gets old, as do some of the events. But I do think it adds to the teen life stage. I only use social bunny for teenagers. It’s nice to have a prom/graduation. I also like more after school activities/part-time jobs/teen only aspirations. The Photo Booth also gets a lot of views in my game. I find that get together Clubs complements this pack.

I know many others have had huge issues with For Rent, but personally I have enjoyed it to make apartments for NPCs and my sims to live in. I have turned off rental events after a fire bug that nearly made the game unplayable and there was a visual bug at one time where I couldn't display the owners of the rentals properly (but they still worked when played). I get not wanting to buy a broken pack, and if I hadn't bought the pack on release I probably would be hesitant, still I can't deny that it has brought me a lot of gameplay and more importantly options to fit more sims into towns with limited lots.

  • Nothing. Enchanted by nature doesn't interest me in the least and Business and Hobbies is still too expensive for what it is.

Have not bought anything yet, but I was really keen on buying a game pack during the previous sale which was last month I believe. However I am currently facing this dilemma where I am stuck between buying Vampires, Strangervile and especially For Rent!

I've heard so much issues when it comes to For Rent and I have put off from buying it since then, so I bought the other EPs instead. I have yet to get high School Years, Horse Ranch, Life & Death, Lovestruck and Hobbies & Businesses.

I'd like to know your opinions on what you'd buy based of what I've not gotten, and any opinions on For Rent specifically!

So tldr - I am stuck between a rock and a hard place for this sale. Help

I split the purchase into two installments one at the start of the Summer sale and one at the end. I still haven't used all the features/been to all the worlds. Mostly been using EbN, Lovestruck and a little of Get Together, and Island Living.

But because I play a very specific game style/playstyle there are a lot of things I know I'll pretty much skip. Minimal technology and socializing off lot, but lots of magic, crafting and collecting.

TBH, I am still catching up with L&D features too.

  • Just curious. Did you install all your summer sale purchases at the same time? Seems like it would be a bit confusing to have so many new features all at once.

  • For the Summer Sale, I bought:

    • Get Together
    • Lovestruck
    • Horse Ranch (to compliment CoL)
    • Island Living (for occult CAS, and to try survival game with EbN's Natural Living Skill )
    • and though not on sale pre-ordered Enchanted by Nature
    • Romantic Garden (to compliment EbN)
    • Vintage Glamour  (as I am a fan of art deco, and wouldn't mind a butler option)

For Mid-Summer Sale, I am thinking:

    • Get Famous (I don't really want reputation in my game or fame (though fame can be turned off rep cannot), I just want the CAS and Build/Buy)
    • Journey to Batuu (recent really get interested from another post)
    • City Living (for Sim/Lot traits and more fish, but not sure if worth it)

TBH, I also recently started thinking about these but just for certain features as I do not play infants/toddlers/children/teens households, so I do not know if it is worth it but I am thinking about it:

    • Growing Together for new likes/dislikes, 5 traits (though I have the mod atm to have this), family dynamics and milestones.
    • Parenting to use Character Value traits as extra traits added via cheats, but that is pretty much it...

I do mostly play a fantasy/occult playstyle, but after deciding to try Lovestruck for more in depth relationships, I was very happy with more complexity in social/relationships/etc. That is why I am thinking of getting other packs just for features. Any thoughts or suggestions welcome!

Packs I currently have: EbN, L&D, RoM, V, W, P, CC, CoL, S, SE, GtW, GT, LS, IL, HR, JA, OR, DO, HCH, CK, RG, VG.
