I do believe that this is the way to handle it. Don't just remove the percentages for death from the game. Some players like/need the sensation of doom for their Sims. I loved Sims2 for that very reason,myself. And I have to say I was totally bummed out to learn that starting with Sims3, random deaths were increasingly difficult to come by. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not the type to go out and plot a Sims' death. I take very good care of my Simmies, but life at times itself is random. You can lose someone you know, or even a family member when you least expect it. Trust me, I have lived long enough to experience this grief first-hand. So, I would much rather these kinds of 'problems' be solved via a mod, so that those who still wish to live under the fear, if you will, that something catastrophic could occur in your game that shakes things up. Don't deprive those who long for such uncertainty. It can actually spice up the game a bit.
