I wish that you didn't have to constantly switch between them to achieve goals. I would like to see it so that if you complete a goal even while the aspiration isn't selected then it could still comp...

I guess it depends. While there are definitely times where it becomes annoying, I can also imagine "accidentally" completing aspirations on a sim who I don't really want the aspiration for if it worked that way.
As for the vampire days, I'm pretty certain they all count up together. Unless that is something they changed recently, but I spent plenty of time maxing out vampires a while ago.
