My sims can't cook

they will start something but not finish and when I tell them to resume I often get the blocked routing. I find especially gourmet meals.

  • My sims usually finish cooking, but instead of eating it, they start cooking something else.
  • My Sis will start a meal, then stop making it, and then make something completely different. When I try to get them back to it, they complain, so I let them eat their second meal, and then have them finish the previous meal. Then when they are done, I let another Sim eat it, usually their kid. I tend to have bigger families, so since the Sims have been doing that recently, I make them finish what they started, and let another Sim eat it so the cycle doesn't happen again.
Also, I found somewhere on here that you can have your Sims make salad, before unleashing them on the stove. Making the salad is suppose to get them their cooking skills. I only looked it up, because all my Sims have at least started one fire, and one Sim has at least started 5 fires, if it wasn't for her sister being a mage, and putting out the fire, the whole family would'v died.
  • I removed a mod that stopped the sims from prepping food on the bathroom counters, that seems to help

I don't have mods in my games, not because I don't want them, but the system I use doesn't allow them. (I am on the console version.)
  • i'm having a similar issue. even with my mods turned off and the mods folder completely removed from the sims 4 folder, for about a year now my sims won't cook. i will tell them to, and they get the ingredients, but then they signal that they have no route and put the ingredients down on the empty counters. all of my sims are surviving off quick meals like microwave meals and cereal, and it's making them have the "uncomfortable" moodlet all the time. i don't know what else to do about this problem

I've seen an issue similar when there were things on the wall in the kitchen preventing the sims from accessing the counter tops. Also, check that the cabinets above the counter tops aren't set too low if there are any.

Oh god, this happens all the time to me. I am getting to the point of not playing anymore because of how nuts it is driving me.
  • My sims do this sometimes or they place unprepared food on a table and walk away. I have to manually put it on the counter for them to prepare even though nothing was on the counter. Really hope they fix this cooking bug.
You may need to remove something in your kitchen or rearrange it even though they can clearly access it if they started cooking.
