I did a search and could only find really out-of-date discussions regarding the My Wedding Stories pack, and rather than necro-posting, I thought it appropriate to start a new one.I only bought the pack very recently after hardly playing Sims at all for months. And I don't seem to be able to get it to work. Like some of the comments that I found in older threads, the guests don't seem to do what I want them to do. The panel at the top left of the screen that explains the activities that you should try to do is handy, but I simply can't work out HOW to do some of those things (like putting in the aisle before you can do the aisle walk etc). Some options didn't even seem to be there, like trying to do a toast. I could not work out how to get the cake there either. And when I tried to send them to do their first dance, they wouldn't. For those playing with My Wedding Stories, what hints did you pick up along the way? Did you need any mods to help things run more smoothly (I'd rather avoid that if possible)? And any other comments?

It's been a while since my last wedding and while I did have some issues with getting guests seated for example, the aisle and toast worked alright. I didn't use any mods. I think you need to watch the livestream of the pack or some sort of tutorial to see how to set up those. You select the isle from build mode and put it down, be sure it's placed the right way. Where the hearts are is where the sims will stand at the end (please check)! For the toast it helps to have the bowl with a bottle set up somewhere. Sims can only toast when they're standing up - again if I remember right.It's a very micromanagey wedding exprience and I wish they would have kept the option for simpler wedding. The pack is the very reason why I haven't had a wedding in a while. I get stressed when I think about arranging it.

I don't use any mods for MWS either, but they are out there. I haven't had a big wedding in a while but the only way I've found to make it half way work is to only choose a few of the available interactions. That way you can concentrate on getting them to perform those 2 or 3 instead of like 10, which will probably drive you mad. MWS is very, very broken.

I never focused that much on the weddings of this pack, there's so many other reasons why I still enjoy the pack. But I think many simmers try to put all possible events in to the same wedding. You are much more likely to succeed if you restrict that a bit. I had no trouble when adding just a couple events.I still like most of the content, especially the dancing floor, food/drink buffets and flowers, t mention a few. Most of those wedding stuff can be used with celebrities and my nobility. For weddings I tend to use pose player (mod) to get the guests locked to their seats during the ceremony ;)

So, I did it recently since I got this pack during the Black Friday sale and had it work although the toast wasn't ideal. I had to go into build mode and add the aisle which I found by searching for a wedding aisle. I then used the aisle to direct sims to sit and wait for the procession. I also had a toast by the Sim's father though I didn't bring all of the other sims there for it. I think there was an option to do that on either the toasting bucket that comes with the pack or by clicking on the wedding aisle. I did have some lag for the first dance which eventually happened. The awkward part was that while I was setting up the first dance, some random guest made a flirty wave at the groom which pissed off the bride and kind of ruined things. They're either going to have a vow renewal later or split up, I haven't decided. Anyway, I switched to the next song on the stereo and they did start dancing but by that time, the bride hated the groom. Some people would have done the whole thing over, I don't tend to do that so I'll see if they can patch things up or break them up. Anyway, I learned the mechanics of that type of wedding but I did not bother with the cake yet. I think you can travel to Tartosa for it and go to the cake shop in the town. These sims were in Uni and it was a Sunday before classes so I didn't have time for that. The right thing to do would be to place those items that you need at any wedding venue before the ceremony or use one of the dedicated wedding sites that come with the pack. I was running multiple wedding venues before I got the pack so I just need to update those but I could go into build mode by pausing during the ceremony and I could add what I needed to reach the goals. If you don't want to bother, you can still elope anywhere or at the courthouse in Tartosa. I still have a lot of elopements but I'll use this again for some of the bigger weddings. I also noticed that they added multiple pre-made wedding venues for different cultures or different styles of weddings. Search the library and you can probably add one that has the items you need already to complete the milestones.

I hate MWS-weddings with a passion! I used to enjoy wedding parties, but now I basically only use 'say vows' and then end the entire event as soon as I can as it is more or less unplayable. I have considered the mod that allows you to have base game weddings as an alternative. I don't want to uninstall the pack, because I do like the CAS and BB aspects of it, but the game feature is horribly done.

Something similar happened in my wedding :D and I thought "I bet the pack throws that in there on purpose, just to make things interesting!"

Yeah, I think it happened once before in an old pack. In this one, it did kind of ruin the event because the bride clearly didn't want to dance with the groom anymore by the time that the first dance started with all of the people watching. I'd use the wedding feature again and I don't think it was that bugged. Starting the first dance was a little slow and confusing.

I was only playing as the bride because they were in two different universities. They currently have not split up and since the groom really wasn't interested in anyone but the bride, I think they worked it out. Just an awkward wedding though.

In terms of MWS, it was easy to direct the steps for the wedding from the aisle or toasting bucket once I figured that out but I definitely had to pause the ceremony and think about it. I'm sure it'll get smoother whenever I do it again. As mentioned, I already had some regular wedding venues that I should update. I'm 50/50 undecided on whether I want to turn the Tartosa beach lot into a wedding venue or an awesome beach villa. I like Tartosa, as usual, I could use a few more lots but I figure that it's the lucky sims who live there.

The point about this pack is that I haven't run into bugs but it did take some getting used to and I'm still learning it because I only had one wedding that way so far. Either go into the venue before the wedding or pause at the start of the ceremony if you need to set up the space.

There are only two game packs I don't own, which are My Wedding Stories (because people said it was buggy at release) and Dream Home Decorator (I don't enjoy building). I actually was contemplating the idea of buying it at a discount because the world that comes with it does look very pretty but his thread really convinced me not to buy this pack I fear.
