Still presents a problem if one of the sims whose friends and family you want to invite is not in the active household or even a played household...or even a household that is placed anywhere in the world such that it can be played.

Granted, you can switch to their household or make them part of the currently active household to get around that, but that's still a suboptimal approach that makes for having to fiddle about rather than just play the game to accomplish.
