I finished the event yesterday and I gotta admit I didn't feel very impressed. It seemed to lack consistency in terms of storytelling, some tasks seemed very random and uninspired (buy a whirlpool so you can use your new swimwear... uhm... alright...), and after my Sim talked to two other Sims about Plant Sims and planted the two magic beans they gave me, it just was... over. I got a prompt telling me that yay, I had completed the event and if I kept looking for more magic beans, my Sim could transform into a Plant Sim. Didn't get the final reward (the potion) either, nor did the game tell me where my Sim might look for more beans.
What I found especially odd was that venturing into the mystical tree in Willow Creek wasn't a task while exploring the grotto was... which, in turn, was a bit tedious because the Sim I was playing the event with had to max out her handiness skill first which took longer than the rest of the event combined. That's gotta be very off-putting for new players.
Overall, I think out of all four events we got since last year, this was by far the weakest. Blast from the Past was fun, it had a cool story, all of it made sense, the story tied in nicely with the rewards... really well done. This one, however... it seemed a bit thrown together, and some of the tasks just felt so random and disconnected.
