Need a way to spend money

So i need to know what you all do with your wealthy sims.... Here is how I play my game I start out with one sim, then I have them meet a townie, and go from there. However by generation three or four my sims are Bill Gates. I have like 900k or more in household funds a house that has everything a sim could need, and the best of it, and it's all upgraded to the max. Even the Goths are asking me for loans. At this point I do stupid stuff like have 6 kids, and have them just do what is needed to not get taken away, and then I have all six of them live with no job as they pop out kids of there own and I see how long it takes me to go broke again. However even that gets a bit boring. This game needs more ways of spending cash, or have something happen that would cause you to loose it all. Some hacker hacks you or SOMETHING!!!!

*sigh , I really wish we could gift item like in previous versions of the game. I remember gifting cars and costly paintings it was a great way to give money to your child sims when they move out or to random townies.

I think buying retail lots or restaurants is the best option. First, because they cost a lot up front. Second, it feels more like your sims are expanding instead of just finding a way to start over. We really need more ways for our sims to spend money in an expansive way (vacation homes, boats, cars, etc.) as well as a contracting way (lose money in an investment, etc). Something that provides more gameplay that is a motivation to earn the money, not just starting all over again from the beginning.
  • Thanks for all the input. @Pegasys looks like your avatar needs a vet for that glowing noes

You could buy expensive items and put them in your children's inventory and move them out to their own houses. You could decided on one kid, and move that kid out and take over their lives, leaving the rest of the family with all the wealthy. B)

Some of my favorite things to do is make my own chance occurrences. I have three jars on my desk.... One for kids, one to add money, and one to take away money. When I feel my game needs a push, I draw from one of the jars, whichever I feel like and use the money cheat accordingly. :p

Some are small things. "Teen earns a new makeover." or "Child sim gets surprise toy in mail." And things like, "Won bingo last night. +$200" or "Lost big at the casino, - $5000". :)

I've also just threw it in the story that Dad had a gambling problem and took all their money but 500 or failed to pay taxes and started over at 0. I've completely destroyed their homes, too, and they survived a tornado or hurricane. :s

That is incredibly creative! I just might have to try that. I was just thinking yesterday that I wish a modder would add chance cards that you could lose big money or have certain things happen.
  • I built a vet clinic (If you have Cats & Dogs) and that took at least 50k and I didn't even use all the nice stuff.

    That's Savage!!!!

Depending on what packs you have you could have your sims own business.
Get to Work - Retail The possibilities are endless with this one.
    Dine Out - Restaurant
Cats & Dogs - Vet Clinic

A super quick way to spend a lot of it would be to allow sims to have vacation homes, effectively paying two mortgages.

Line your walls with large windows. Make a completely glass house!

    But don't throw stones!
