I had this happen too. It was good that my Sim was relatively close to aging up. I couldn't deal with having to figure out which autosave I'd need to back up to. By selecting BLOW OUT CANDLES, I assumed there would be the option of selecting who would blow them out. Apparently not!
Another issue at these parties, and maybe this is the wrong place to post it, but locked doors apparently don't work for the guests. The party I went to was at a triplex apartment unit. Guests were everywhere.
