Please don't shoot me, but I'm not really that excited about the tea set. ::Ducks:: I am however really glad that it's coming with the pack since so many seem to be thrilled about it.
I've never actually understood the necessity for an electric kettle, but I'm sure that's just my ignorance about proper British tea. I'm not sure about the rest of the US, but down here in the South the only tea we drink is an awesome refresher called "sweet tea", which is served cold over ice. I'm sure the Brits here would be horrified to know how it's made LOL. But it only requires a regular kettle or even a pot of water.
Cheers and salutations for tea of all kinds!
Your post made me giggle. When I was growing up my mom had a tea kettle she'd boil her water in and then pour it in her cup over her tea bag, but never loose tea or anything like that. Then microwaves came out and that all changed. (Although the tea kettle still sat on the burner as a decorative thing LOL).
I'm L.A.Z.Y .... I just fill my mug with water, nuke it for about a minute and half, add my tea bag, a tablespoon of honey, and some sugar free sweetener and I'm good to go.
And "sweet tea" is a staple at my house as well (even though I'm not in the south, I'm USA - Midwest), but not just in the summer time, but any time, it's actually my normal drink of choice when I go out to eat. When I make it at home, we don't use real sugar in it, we only use artificial sweetener (Splenda) because my middle daughter is a diabetic so it's just easier to keep tea container sugar free so she's not drinking the "wrong tea" and spiking her blood sugar.
