New glitch after July 23 update

There is a way to save your file. In your save files folder, you will see you have several files named the same and then ver0,1,2,3, and so on. Those are previous save files, so if you remove the ver# it will become the active save file. 

What you do is the following: 

• Close the game (exit without saving if you can). 
• Delete your last active save-file (the one without any ver#, ending in just .save)
• Choose one of the versions from before the patch (look at the time it was altered).
• Remove the ver# from the name so that the file ends with .save - that is now your new active save file. 
  
  

A good advice is to then leave that save file alone until all your mods have been updated and the sim-team has worked out the most serious bugs out of the system. Play a new save in vanilla mode for a while until your mods are updated and the sims-team has fixed some of the problems they caused. 

Yes im experiencing this too, I took out all of my mods and its like nothing is really working i cant go into manage worlds and then i get stuck in build mode, cant even go back to menu. I was still able to save if i recovered my most recent saves but in live mode i cant save

Mine started glitching after I tried to open my sims "Simology" tab which I thought was really weird. Thankfully I save recently a barely lost any progress

I have the issue where i start the game , cannot then open the panels bottom right after opening one once . Cannot use the phone to travel , Cannot save my game and when my sim tried to walk home after high school the game went to a black screen and i had to force close the game 

This is also happening to me. It started shortly after I downloaded the update. I was playing on my current save file and switched to the simology tab on a child sim. It's completely broken, and so are some of the other buttons. Sometimes the camera controls button won't produce the drop-down, and neither will the notification wall. I can go into build mode and back into live mode but when I get back into live mode, the tabs on the bottom right corner all completely disappear, as well as everything on the bottom left. The only thing on the screen is the active game, and the buttons at the top right (minus the manage worlds button). The options menu will not open, and the only way to exit the game is to force stop it. Similarly, if I hit the manage worlds button at all, the popup which prompts you to select if you want to save before going to manage worlds or just go to manage worlds will come up, but regardless of what I choose, the gameplay screen goes black. The game is still running and the sims are still active, but most of the buttons stop working. Again, the only way to close the game is to force stop it. For reference, I don't have any mods and I don't have the new pack, either. It's really frustrating and disappointing. I'm sure the glitch will be resolved, but it seems like all we can do is wait for the sims team to do so.

this is happening to me too. Ive deleted a handful of mods. My game plays normally except build mode, panels, go to world. I hope the sims team can get this fixed before the new pack comes out. Was looking forward to playing it tommorrow but my game is pretty much unplayable :(

Yep, it's a very widespread bug since the update. See the thread posted by elliebreton for details. Here is a quote from EA_Cade yesterday:
