New save options: Empty lots & skipping CAS

As suggested in the title, starting a new save shows all kinds of stuff that is very usefull to new players, but not at all to experienced players.

- Whole worlds full of pre-build homes, I'm spending a lot of time tearing down all residential lots every time I need a new save.*
- Having to go through CAS and create a household, usually I already have a household that I want to put in said new save.
- Having to place a household AND moving to the lot right away, instead of as it works later placing the household but staying in the world. Or, rather, not having to place on at all untill you are ready for it.

These are a few things I would like to see available in starting a new save, or as options of sorts.

I marked the first thing with a * for a reason. I have ofcourse thought about making a save with empty lots and backing that up. However, occasionally I have issues with a corrupted save that are even found in my clean (no mods & unplayed) empty lot save, causing me to have to create a new one, spending hours to demolish all the homes before I can play again.

A little while ago some of these points were listed in the patch notes and then later removed, I wish to put them back on the agenda.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and thanks for considering the possibilities!

All lots. I am mostly only using my own lots, so for me deleting all lots implies literally all lots. Maybe there could be two options: (1) bulldoze all lots, or (2) bulldoze residential lots only, for those that do prefer to keep the public lots. Now that I think of it, sometimes I keep the parks in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs, so an option to delete residential lots only would be handy.

Yesterday I did a new save where I demolished all lots except the ones whos type you can't change. Sometimes I keep (some of) the public lots too. This time I spent a whole afternoon putting a lot sized foundation on all lots with stairs at the center of the front side, and I managed to find quite a few bugs in the world view.

I just used a 20x15 and it worked even on 64x64. If there's no terrain paint saved then the grass/sand will be normal as if you were to bulldoze it.

So I've noticed, when you have nothing in your 'lot' you wouldn't see a difference. I did notice however that the more lots I replaced the slower the building became. So in the end it saved me more on clicks then on time. But hey, it is still a good workaround! : D
  • I read another thread a good couple of weeks ago about something very similar. It was suggested we can make a TEMPLATE save. I decided to do this. I spent all morning long, removing the gym, night club, museum and library from WC, and replacing them with residential lots of my choosing. Then I went to NewCrest and set that up with the various venues from WC and the desert (having a brain fog moment and can't recall the name) I never use that neighborhood. Once I did that, the next day, I took the time to set up my active game save. I was going to use the brand new TEMPLATE, but it occurred to me that since I was playing rotation style with three related families, that once I moved them (even saving them to the bin to keep their current skills progress, etc., first) they would lose that all-essential familial tie, I shrugged and spent the time to set up that save, instead.

As for having to create/use another Sim, it is an enormous pain to always have to enter a new save through CAS. But, as it's been stated, you can open up the Gallery, go to your library and exchange the randomized Sim in CAS for one of your choosing. I do this quite often.
