New Stairs are GREAT - however...

Why are we unable to edit/recolor the landings?

Landings are created when flipping the steps - and once you get to stairs wider than 1, the landing is HUGE and depending on the style/color of stairs, UGLY.

Why are we not allowed to recolor the landings with floor tiles?

Also, is there a reason we cannot squish a landing for U-shaped stairs that are wider than 1? The landing ends up massive, and if I wanted to have the landing be 2x1, I cannot do that. Why?

Because in the game the staircase is treated as a single unit and not separate pieces. So your landing is created by swinging the bottom of the unit as if it were on a hing and the programming then widens the step at that hinge point to create the landing, and so since it is a single unit, what you do part you do to all. In order to do what you want staircases would need to be programmed as modular allowing for each piece to be modified individually.

Okay cool. Then they should update the stairs to do that/allow for that.

Or just make a 'slot' for us to paint the landing (like a slot on a counter, but instead of objects, we place floor tiles)

We can hope, because that would be pretty cool. I guess it’s a matter of deciding how to spend their programming dollars. For now I am ecstatic to not have to have stairs take up the majority of a story in my houses anymore and I would always welcome improvements to any build features.
