The last three packs we got- the kits- had absolutely nothing to do with the occult. And we also got bunk beds recently, for free, so you can't say we never get family gameplay. Even hauntings can be used for family gameplay if you really want to- hey, I made it work when the pack first came out, and I plan to reuse it in a generation or two.
Family gameplayers get almost everything, because (with few exceptions?) they can use anything. Besides, as said above, the sim gurus have nearly confirmed we'll get generations someday, so does it really matter what is released between now and then?
Anywaaaaaaaaay......I want faeries :p .
On which planet is vacuuming, retro sport outfits and a farmstyle kitchen family gameplay?! Bunk beds can be used for University and military gameplay too with YA, especially the loft beds. So this is no dedicated family gameplay. This is random gameplay usable for everyone.
I am so tired of occult stuff. I was so disappointed with Paranormal, although it was very well made, I don't play with that kind of stuff and getting yet another occult GP or even EP means more than 6 months without content I use. The vacuuming not counted, this is like no gameplay at all. We haven't had family gameplay since 2017 and Parenthood. And when we got Kids Stuff and toddler stuff, stuff packs were still bad and not as refined as and containing so much gameplay like Paranormal. Kids Stuff and Toddler Stuff were a JOKE compared to Paranormal!
The only family gameplay we really got was with Parenthood. This game almost offers nothing for family players and it's really time it does. I am slowly using interest, haven't played for weeks, waiting for new content I can use.
About the kits I said they were not occult, not that they were family gameplay, but still- vacuuming- chores, something families have. Farmstyle kitchen- grandma's kitchen? A farm family? Retro sports...well, that's a specific member of the family probably, but you could use it. Bunk beds can be used for those things, yes, but in the video where they showed it off it was used in a family.
Family gameplay can come in anywhere, in any pack, but occult sims have to be constricted to a specific pack otherwise people would complain about it. Almost anything can be used for family gameplay- just because it doesn't come in Get to Family or Family Life doesn't make it any less useful. Yeah, we haven't had any dedicated Family TM packs recently, but since every pack can be used for families, I don't see why (excluding generations, something all but confirmed) they'd even bother.
You're tired of occult stuff, I'm tired of nonoccult stuff, so this is a no win situation. And of course Kids Stuff and Toddler Stuff is a joke in hindsight compared to Paranormal, but all that shows is that they're improving and trying harder to give us better content. Everything is bad when you look back at it. I mean, compare the aliens in Get to Work with any other occult and it proves the same.
And no, just because Toddlers and Kids stuff don't live up to the new packs doesn't mean they don't count as family gameplay. Heck, even though it's widely considered to be awful, My First Pet stuff is family gameplay. It's literally about giving your children sims pets. Parenthood is the best thing we've gotten for family players, but don't act like it's the only thing we've ever gotten, because it's completely wrong.
I hope a pack comes out that interests you, but heck....I still want faeries."Dakota88;c-17864699" wrote:
Packs coming with realistic gameplay deliver no dedicated family gameplay (like Seasons or Snowy Escape for example). They can be used for family gameplay (just as they can be used for occult gameplay), but you can't compare it to a dedicated pack. And it wasn't really a lot, so you can't use THAT much of it for family gameplay in particular.
@Dakota88 I don't know I feel like Seasons is very much family. Celebrating holidays is what you do wtih family and there are tons of interactions you can do with your kids and teens like decorating trees, going trick or treating, egg hunting. It's all great activities for family play.
And I don't think you can integrate occult gameplay at all there. What are you gonna do? Take your vampire to the beach? Have your Ghost go egg gunitng? That doesn't suit them at all.
Also Snowy Escape, you can take the whole family on vacation, kids can do winter sports too, they can collect cards etc.
Island Living is another one I use with my families that go to the beach with their kids and toddlers and play by the beach, build sandcastles etc."Dakota88;c-17864699" wrote:
We lack basic group interactions for family gameplay, kids can't play together except when they use the doll house or the lego table. Kids can't do much being kids at all.
@Dakota88 Yeay but this should be base game content. You should complain about the base game for not allowing kids to play together, not the packs."Sigzy05;c-17864700" wrote:

Kits are extremely small and only one of them added any gameplay and it was vacuums, which toddlers can't use, babies can't use, and children can only use the small ones. Journey to Your Butt has nothing that kids can use and Paranormal stuff is occult/quirky related gameplay. And no, Guru's didn't confirm Generations or cars, they said they knew we wanted but that they had nothing to share with us about them, meaning they probably aren't working on those features at all. That's not confirmation that it's coming, and even if it was, so what?
It's really ❤️❤️❤️❤️ how some players here treat others. Why are people excusing the lack of family gameplay in a lifesim, which has babies that can't even be moved from bassinets? This whole shtick of "occult players" trying to pass over people who like more lifesim gameplay is getting pretty old and petty. You literally want every pack to be about occults. Paranormal stuff was already on the occult side and so was Journey to Your Butt, so I don't think it's unreasonable for people to want extra family gameplay afterwards. Anyways....
Just be happy if it's fairies, but don't go around excusing the lack of packs that are family oriented because "everything is family oriented", it's not.
Exactly. This is how it is.- DaWaterRatNew Vanguard

It is the polite and civil thing to do.
Because we family players haven't had dedicated content since 2017 and Parenthood, so there's that, while you had Vampires, Realm of Magic & Paranormal, not counting Batu as I know many occult players dislike it and don't see it as an occult pack (it's not, it's a Disney World Batu advertisment pack).
I'm honestly curious what your family does IRL that you can't do in the Sims? Don't get me wrong, I know there's a lot, but for my family we:
(can do in Sims 4)
go to the park
go to city festivals
go to geek conventions
went to our daughter's plays at school
play video games together
eat dinner together (okay, this is hit or miss both IRL and in the Sims)
watch movies/TV together
sit and talk together.
When she was younger, we'd help her build Legos and play with toys with her.
Play with water balloons
build snowmen
Go ice skating (okay, that's my family when I was a kid, but still something that can be done in the sims)
(Can't do in sims 4)
Enroll in Martial Arts or other extracurriculars besides scouts and drama
take part in multiple extracurriculars.
Go to the zoo together
Go to an amusement park together (ignoring Journey to Batuu for this)
Go to the Renaissance Faire in summer (believe me, this is a separate category)
volunteer to help with kid's after-school programs (which I did a lot with her Drama programs.)
Go see a play or musical outside of Drama club
Play tag/have a water gun fight.
Now, my family at this point is 2 adults and one young adult, and our daughter is - by design - an Only Child. We're also a family of Geeks and Theater people. So what we do as a family probably isn't what most would consider a base-line for "normal" but I can do many of the things my family does/has done in real life in the Sims, and most of the things that fall under "can't" aren't exclusive to family play.
Or are you conflating "Family Play" with "more stuff for Kids"? Because while I can see how and why that is a valid interpretation of "Family play" it's hardly the only one, and may well be at the heart of why some people say that every pack can be used for family play. I want more stuff for kids/teens too. Especially more extracurriculars. But I don't count that as "family" activities. That's Kid's/teens stuff.
Bringing this back to On Topic, however, I still think we're getting a pack with some sort of expansion on School/teen activities, and it may well be announced next week. Certainly, come Early May, we should hear something (unless it's the fall/winter pack, which is also possible.)
But I think in the exchange that sparked all the speculation, the Guru's were just trolling for fun. "greydonn;c-17864730" wrote:
This whole "babies are objects" thing is getting old. Babies have always been objects in Sims 4, there hasn't been a time that they haven't been objects in the sims 4. It's a feature of the game, and people constantly complaining about it, while I understand, is hardly a point anyway. It is what it is.
@greydonn Also the whole baby thing has nothing to do with the new pack. I understand if someone doesn't want the babies to be objects but what does that have to do with new packs. The base game is to blame and the change should be in the base game.
I don't understand why someone would bring it up in a thread about new DLC."DaWaterRat;c-17864728" wrote:

Again: we are missing basic group interactions, especially for the younger age groups and for different age groups doing things together. We're missing good playground items too, there is no slide for children. Children can't play in the pool, they're swimming next to each other (which children do that?!). My family can't even make music together.- DaWaterRatNew VanguardTo again diverge to the actual topic of the thread...
I honestly don't care what the next pack is. Yes, I want Werewolves and/or Faeries. I also want Bands, Heists (with Casinos/hotels), expanded School options and after School activities, a Medieval Stasis Eurofantasy pack, and more World Travel type locations.
About the only thing that would bring a yawn would be Farming, and even that I could get excited about if it included horses.
But we're not going to find out on Monday. Maybe Tuesday. Probably next week/month. - alanmichael1Seasoned HotshotI want every player to be happy, but what the game really needs to survive several more years are new levels of creativity - like being able to change the worlds outside of lots, creating own clothes with intuitive tools or careers that are much more complex than the current ones. Neither more occults nor being able to carry babies from A to B will make the game more interesting after 7 years. A school pack could be nice but after the way they handled University lessons I don't see that.

Ol' Georgie is talking about "playing in one world from a Friday to a Monday". Playing implies recreation. And dare I say it could imply traveling or a vacation. This could be a solo person taking a trip, a couples getaway, or a Chevy Chase inspired Family vacation. (I only mention Chevy Chase because of you SimGuruNinja. :D )"simgirl1010;d-989144" wrote:

Now Ol' Frosty responds with the classic set up for the continuation of this tease. Some have come to associate with Strangerville (and with good reason). It is clear that he is referencing some content that hasn't been released. However... I suspect his use of ties in to an ACTIVITY given Georgie's response.
Now here's the fun one:"simgirl1010;d-989144" wrote:

I suspect the first is in reference to the activity that Frosty was alluding to is his tweet.Hmm... what if is more than one activity?
Georgie is basically saying that this 'mystery' activity is only available to sims.
Well now... instead of going with "occult sims", let's go with some other options- dating or married sims - well now... that could set the stage for some 'romance' or 'date'. Might there be a Honeymoon theme to this? Might it be somewhere to get married? Wouldn't be saying singles couldn't go to this world, just that they could for a date or a honeymoon.
- young adult / adult sims / elderly - yeah, I know the teens and toddlers are left out. But the activity I was thinking of here would be gambling.
- People with a ticket - Huh what? Simple. The activity that Frosty is referring to is something that requires a ticket. Like some sort of show or concert.
Hmm... what if is all three of those? nah you don't think...
What if the third is referencing a specific destination world that would have all 3 of those activities available but the individual lot types there were available to be put in other world lots.
Could we be getting a "Vegas" themed world with Hotels, Casinos and "show venues" for some sort of "Honeymoon in Vegas" themed pack?
nah... I am probably overthinking. RIGHT? - dating or married sims - well now... that could set the stage for some 'romance' or 'date'. Might there be a Honeymoon theme to this?
