No hate, but how can a game from 2014 have such terrible AI?

What's also annoying me is when sims decide to autonomously watch the kids channel on tv. If they are neither toddlers or children, nor have the childish trait, they will get bored by it. Like okay, why do you watch it when it's so boring to you? Also, sims autonomously reading skill books that are too difficult for them, resulting in them getting tense. There's just so many autonomous actions that don't make any sense.
