I’ve turned off lifestyles for now. I’m not feeling them in my game. They just seem to make my sims unhappy. :#
I had a teenager sim get the single and loving it lifestyle and it bothered me. She wasn’t single and loving it. She was just young and focusing on other things in her life more than she was romance and the weird thing was I had just had her start a romance up with a boy the day before she got the lifestyle. It made no sense to me that she got that lifestyle.

I don't think sims with single and loving it can't build the romance but that it is harder for them to actually build romance. I see it more as a lifestyle for sims who don't want to be in a relationship or build romantic ties to anyone.
I could be wrong since I haven't played with that lifestyle yet. Have your sims watch romantic shows and movies it should help push them out of the lifestyle.
