Occult Sims

Occult as in?
There are aliens, and there are vampires, and as far as I know and have experienced, there are some form of ghosts. What was there missing as opposed and compared to the latter versions of the game? The beings in TS3 Supernatural? TS2 didn't really have much, either, but I suppose that's why you'd consider it a predecessor too.

Depends on how you define 'occult'. TS2 has witches, zombies, vampires, werewolves, plantsims, and aliens.

I think what they mean is compared to sims 3. There was not only occult added by supernatural. Every EP had an occult or something similar added.

There were mummies, aliens, skeletons, 2 types of robots, genies, mermaids, plantsims, witches, fairies, werewolves, zombies, ghosts...

That’s 13 types and I’m just going off of memory.

In ts4 we have 3, but ghost don’t add any worthwhile gameplay. Count me in the crowd of simmers who want more.

Many players prefer more realistic game-play and didn't want to be forced to have occults by them being slipped into expansions for other things. Aliens managed to fit in get to work because of the science career but even that got some criticism.

Personally, I'm all for occult. There was a survey recently by Sim guru Grant about a possible occult Game-pack. Witches came out on top, followed by Mermaids. So there's that to look forward to.

He also mentioned that they didn't intend to improve on plantsims.

I'm fine with the number we have. I mean, eventually you reach a point where you're creating a completely different type of game.

We have more than 3, you're forgetting skeletons and plant sims.

Skeletons are fun but temporary, but plant sims are just down right half baked.

I didn't play much TS3 and didn't play TS2 at all, but I don't think they're under any obligation to remake those two games.

The problem I have with TS4 broadening out in a supernatural direction is that there's still so much missing for a game that considers itself a "life simulation". I can't imagine saying, "Forget about university and vehicles, what we really need are gremlins and faeiries."

Now, if they were to release a standalone title, like Medieval was, that'd be a better option for both the simulation and supernatural sides. Put a different team on it, give it the attention it deserves. I'd play something like that.

I'm not sure if I want more supernatural sims because I do enjoy playing a more realistic game. However, I do think it would be nice to have that option in the future to mix up my families a bit when I get bored.

I never play with occult sims.. at least I never played with occult sims in the sims 2 and 3... actually I removed them all in both games. In the sims 4 though... I played a lot with vampires, because they are really good in my opinion, and funny to play. So if it takes a dedicated game pack to do occult properly, I'm fine with that, as long they aren't just annoying like in the sims 3.
