I remember my shock when my very first sim (TS1), a happily married woman, fell in love with another sim simply because he flirted with her. ??!!! I quit out immediately. Lydia was not a cheater! (ETA: she was named for a classmate who'd been killed in a car crash, & I was not having it. I generally don't make sims after people I've known anymore.)
Since then, I've grown accustomed to it. The only time Sims have been faithful has been in--what was it, late TS3?--when they gave us a system for indicating when a relationship was monogamous.
Otherwise, they've been very opportunistic. So I roll with it...or rather, they do the rolling, and I just laugh at them.
