As frustrating as it would be to wait longer, when it's already been such a long wait, it also sounds like you've put a lot of work into getting this save right where you want it. If it were me, I would be inclined to just pause the game for a week or two in hopes that your essential mods will be updated fairly quickly. What is their track record like for updating after other major changes to the game? Do you have any other favorite games you could play in the meantime? Could you be temporarily satisfied with keeping your main save backed up and just using an alternate save to build new lots in San Sequioa (or other worlds, with the new assets and lot type), or testing out the new features on a test save with another family, so that you will have it down pat when you feel safe to proceed with your main save?
