Open Neighborhood Rather than Open World

I really dislike the open world in TS4. All of the neighbourhoods seem so disconnected to eachother and there is no continuation of the Sims at home if one leaves the house.
I personally would like an open world in TS3, but when you want to go to a different lot in Live mode, you get a loading screen. I think this could be a good compromise, because you would still kind of have an open world feeling, but still better performance since not all of te homes have to be filled. If this can't be possible then I would really like a full open neighbourhood without loading screen like the OP.
I hate how the world maps look in TS4 btw. It's all just stupid drawings (we can't even see our terrain paint on the lots in the map) and the one from TS3 looked way better, because it seemed like an actual overview of the town.
