My take on it. I do care about terrain paint snow. A modder did that months back. I'm disappointed, as I have been about something with every pack that has been released. Same as I was when pets was said to be non-controllable. But, I bought the pack, hoping that their "we did it for the greater good" business was enough to make up for, to me, what was a major negative.
I've grown to really love pets. I still miss not being able to control them. Yes, I know there is a mod that allows it, and I'm all about mods (having over 250 of them) but I feel that pets were made to not be controlled, so I'm not controlling them. BUT... the only thing I actively miss about not being able to control my pets is the fact I can't check their age. That's it. I can't see how old my pets are. Otherwise. I'm okay with it. I do think the pets have more personality then they would have had we been able to control them. So the "greater good" seems like.... maybe a valid argument with pets. Overall, I'm pleased with the pack and happy it was released the way it was.
Well, now, with seasons, we have flat, terrain paint snow. Another major negative (to me) that was basically sacrificed for the greater good of the pack, yet again. Will I buy seasons. Yes, I will. And I'll hope that the effort and gameplay they put into the other aspects makes it not as disappointing to see my sims walk on white paint. I seen the snow flakes in one of the videos. It looks rather disappointing, too. But, again, I'm reserving full judgement until I have the pack installed on my pc and I'm playing it. That is the only way I'll know if the pack and the sacrificing is worth it. No amount of reviews, livestreams, or videos will tell me how I feel about it until I've lived it and played it.
But, having said that. I am looking forward to seasons. More so than any pack to date. Seasons has always been my favorite pack and I feel optimistic that the EA team is going to make me glad I have the pack. I'll miss snow depth, like I miss being able to see how old my pets are, like I miss being able to build my own apartments, like I miss lots of things in this series.
