I'm not saying it was these details that made them not go for snow depth. I can't claim to know one way or the other. But honestly if it was, I'll take this over snow depth. It bothers me so much more to have green, flowery winters like in The Sims 2 and 3 than not having snow depth. But snow depth really should be there, though, come on EA.
The winters in my Sims 3 game are completely white. Everything’s covered. Which is why I don’t mind the flowers. Being all white they look like leaves to me. And trees do react to the seasons.
That's the thing, unless you live in certain locations IRL, winters will not always be full of snow with snow covering everything straight from Fall to Spring. I really don't like this idea that the snow is supposed to make up for all of the lack of detail put into this area in The Sims 3. The Sims 3 is supposed to be the game where all of this attention to detail is put and somehow they missed this in TS3 and it has always been a BIG deal to me. To me it is a major aesthetic failure, on the same level - if not worse - as the lack of snow depth in TS4.
