I would love this. They could probably use some of the code for the freelancer careers (for the "staying at home part"), and they could give them new tasks every weekday to complete (schoolwork, developing specific skills etc). Homeschooling isn't allowed in my country, so I could be wrong, but don't homeschooled kids have to take some kind of exam at a public school at the end of every school year to "prove" their parents do a good enough job? This could also be a feature of homeschooling in the game (maybe at the end of every week).
What I've also thought about is that they could also add back the private school feature from TS2 where you have to impress the headmaster to get a place in the school. It doesn't really make sense for the kids from rich, old-school families to visit a normal public school like anyone else (I know some rich kids go to a public school, I am just generalizing). Some premade sims like Cassandra and Alexander Goth or Luna Villareal also look more like private school students (just based on their outfits). They could also add some boarding schools which focus on different skills/careers, either as rabbit holes or active lots. This could all be part of a bigger school pack. I'd buy it to be honest.
