Physical or Digital Game Copy?

As much as I would love an physical copy, it is becoming harder to acquire one depending on where you at. As the internet evolves or expand it has made digital delivery more accessible and developers perfer digital over physical being it does save on overhead only in some case customers saves on costs.

My PC doesn't have a disk drive on purpose. For me digital downloads are more eco-friendly, also I don't want to waste space on cases.

I prefer physical for back up purposes in case the game one day goes *poof* but seeing as it's just a code in a box I buy digital.

I am seeing more PC cases without an external slot as it shows the developers are more involved with digital delivery. I like digital but with the Windows installer like GOG provides with it's digital games.

I use to only want physical copies but they often get scratched broken or misplaced especially if the family shares it around (which mine did). The code often was on a slip of paper inside also or on the game book and that got lost now and then. I'm positive I bought the first two Sims games at least twice and in some cases bought some EP's even more. The clutter and cleaning also ends up being a pain in the bottom.
So yes I've gone to the dark side.. gimme digital.

The Sims is honestly the only series where I prefer the physical copy. All of my other games are through Steam.

I prefer physical. I live in a rural area and have to pay a lot of money for limited lousy internet service because high speed isn't available where I live. Having to download games can be challenging and takes a long time.

As mentioned, the disc and case are just clutter/junk. I used to like having a physical manual but these days most games have so many patches that the manual is full of outdated info.

I prefer physical copies for the same reason you do. It's nice to have them on display to show off a collection. I own all Sims 1, Sims 2, and Sims 3 packs in physical forms. However, I only own physical copies of The Sims 4 base game, 'Get To Work', and 'Cats & Dogs'. Especially since stuff packs and game packs no longer have physical copies at all. So I usually just get the digital versions now.

But I definitely miss the days when physical copies were a thing. It was always nice to show off my collection.
