I'm wondering why an entire wall disappears (Gets demolished) when I put a platform against it?
It's a tad frustrating! I found it's easier not to use the platform tool, but rather enclose the area where I want the platform with (temporary) walls, then click the floor to bring up the UI, then raise the floor (platform), then delete those extra walls. It's super quick and hardly anything needs to be replaced.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but I think I know. Um?
I was putting a platform against a wall inside a building then the wall gets demolished. So what do you mean? Build the platform one square away from the wall, enclosed it before building it in temporary walls, then what? Move one edge of that 'room' with the platform to the wall? Then demolish the temporary walls left around the platform???
No, I don't think s/he means to build the platform away from the wall.
@Simmerville could you please clarify? If you're wanting to put the platform against the wall, how do you put "temporary walls" against your walls? Also, are you saying that once you've raised the floor, you also put a platform on top of that and then raise the platform? What does UI mean?
Sorry for my lack of understanding.
You don't need to add walls that are already there. Say I want to add a platform in a corner, then I'd only add 2 temp walls. Afterwards I'll easily delete them. The old walls will be like they were before adding the platform. Point is that using the platform tool by adding a 2x2 platform works very differently from simply raising the floor of a room. It also deletes many objects, walls and wallpapers etc, while the wall trick hardly deletes anything = time saving. To have a room, you need four walls, to enclose the area. I used to add the platform blocks, but now I only use the wall trick. If you want a star shaped platform, just draw a star shaped room and raise the floor. Building a star shaped platform with the tool(s), is way harder. My walls method works best on simple platforms though. Might get harder if the platform approaches stairs or if you want several levels etc - I never tried that.
Edit: UI means User Interface = those lines and arrows you need to make your adjustments. In a room you can click on any floor to get the UI for that room, and the UI now includes the same platform arrows (up/down) as the platform tool does.
