What research have you done to prove that they'll actually still make a profit at the lower prices?
I think the prices are fine. The stuff packs are a far better deal than the Sims 3 store ever was. Game packs offer new experiences along with tons of new stuff at an equally fair price of $20 and $40 for an expansion a couple of times a year isn't bad either. Really, everything is a pretty fair value. And remember, you don't have to buy everything that comes out.
You also realize how the economy works too, right? Inflation and all that? Everything goes up in price. Wages need to be increased eventually to try and meet inflation. (Not that it ever will at this point) That's just life. It sucks but there isn't much we can do about it. You're not just paying for objects and gameplay. You're paying for the time it took an actual person to make that object or code that gameplay.
