I have two sims who have been living together since forever, friendship and romance bar full, and both with the soulmate aspiration (one always had it, the other just recently completed a different aspiration and switched), so I figured it was about time to make it official on their next date while both were in a good mood and feeling flirty - only for the proposal to be rejected, and I was like: :astonished:
This has never happened to me before, not under all these favourable conditions, and the game didn't even give me a proper reason other than a tense moodlet saying that it wasn't the right time. But then I found what might have been the root of the problem: The recipient of the proposal was already on level 2 of the aspiration, which requires them to get married to their best friend. Those two weren't best friends at the time, which I thought was a given considering their relationship, but... apparently not. So maybe that was the reason. I'll have the poor rejected soul woohoo around with a few other sims to get over his pain, and then try again, now that they're officially "best friends".
