Proposal?

So I currently have a couple that just got engaged and I was wondering can you stay engaged forever or however long you want to like it won't go away? I know the Sims can be kind of picky on stuff sometimes and I wasn't sure if this was one of them or not. I just didn't want them to get married right away and my Sims aspiration anyways is for soulmate and she has to become BFF with her soulmate first anyways and it's taking a little longer then expected too. So just curious on if there's like a day limit on that or not with the engagement?

    Not that I know of ?. Don't be afraid to take it slow sometimes, because TS4 is all about taking life just the way you want it, after all!

    @wylmite1986 I don't know if an engagement 'expires', but it may be cancelled if romance goes down. I've done the same thing fairly recently to complete that aspiration, get friendship up to BFF first.
    I have tied to go from romancing up with dates, then girlfriend/boyfriend, then propose then try to elope. Even with both sims as PC's, it says, "Whoa! This is too soon!". :D

    Never had any issues with engagements dissipating on their own, but then again - if you;re engaged then it's probably serious and you should just plan the wedding or elope right then and there.

    The only reason why you even should get married, IMO, is to make sure that a kid (Adopted one) counts as a child of both parents. Otherwise there is very little point. Or at least I don't see it.

    Hahaha @ArcherDK you just about phrased my philisophy regarding IRL relationships ?
    But I think it's cute when sims get married, too, especially the marriage my celeb sims had (because the fans and papparazzi went wild!). What makes it even cuter? When they are also soulmates and bffs like how @wylmite1986 is rolling with it ☺️

    @Coffeecrumblecake It is cute, yes. My sims get married, too, but usually for other reasons than just because they could or wanted to. My current sims are married for story reasons.

    With that said - you're completely right. Soulmate aspirations is very powerful.
    The fact that I've completely forgotten about it despite that one of my sims is actually completing it says something, doesn't it? :)

    About IRL - never will get married, never will have kids. :)

    My sim couple's romance has gone down to 0, but they're still engaged.

    The question is, @musteni , can they get married? Or are they engaged until romance goes up and then marriage becomes an option again?
