Q about heirlooms and different households

So, if old sim makes the armchair an heirloom and dedicates it to daugher, how will daughter get hold of the armchair when mother dies? I understand each heirloom will keep track on its line of owners, but how will the daughter get this vase if she lives in a different household? Must it be delivered somehow, will she claim it somehow, or will it magically appear in her household inventory?

I'm thinking of heirlooms that can not be transferred between households manually, and that are too large for the personal inventory.
