Question about Get to Work Expansion Pack
I'm thinking of getting the Get to Work expansion pack while it's 50% off, but before I get it I want to clarify some things. I'm interested in it for the detective career, the retail, and the aliens....

CAS aliens are full aliens. Also if a sim is abducted and comes back pregnant, the child is a full alien somehow. The other way to get full blooded aliens in your game is to find the townie ones and turn them into played sims.
Half aliens do not have alien powers or a disguise. If they are born with the alien skin tone it is permanent, but they are also frequently born with the human parent's skin tone. They can do a few of the alien socials with other aliens and half-aliens, but that's it.
I believe in another thread I read that if you have a half-alien use mermadic kelp to become a mermaid they don't get glitchy. So I would assume that a child born half-alien and half mermaid would not be glitchy, would have the same chance of being a mermaid as if the alien parent was human, and would not have alien powers. But I have never tried it. Mermaids have a lot of the same skin tones as aliens in their mermadic form, so you could make the mermaid form resemble the alien parent.
