Rank the last 7 EP

Hi,

During this Kit era of The Sims 4, how would you rank the last 7 EP released ?

EP12 High School Years
EP13 Growing Together
EP14 Horse Ranch
EP15 For Rent
EP16 Lovestruck
EP17 Life & Death
EP18 Businesses & Hobbies

  • EP14 Horse Ranch
    EP17 Life & Death
    EP16 Lovestruck
    EP12 High School Years
    EP15 For Rent
    EP13 Growing Together

I did not play enough with B&H so I think it would be wrong for me to rank it, but right now it feels like a top 3,

    EP18 Businesses & Hobbies

  • 1: Life & Death - i love the world, the gameplay, personality traits, 1 aspiration, some kind of festivals and the b/b items (the clothes and hairs just aren't my style but maybe it's because i'm not the dark themed person and i feel like the hairs are all the same, just slightly different, everything else in my opinion is great)

2: Growing Together - i'm the family gameplayer so this explains everything, more aspirations for little kids, more realistic relationship, personalities likes/dislikes and topic likes/dislikes, i love the b/b items, i love how it comes with a new venue and rabbit-hole cinemas but i wished they could've done better with the world and some CAS aren't my style, especially the hairs

3: Businesses & Hobbies - it's surprisingly higher than "For Rent" because there are lots of possibilities with what you can do with your business, it's a dream coming true, 2 new venue, residental and community lot based on running your own business, i quite like the world because it's so unique from other worlds, i love the b/b items, 2 new aspirations and 2 personalities, i might use 1 of them more than the other 1 though, i love how it comes with 2 new aspirations but unless i'm missing something but if not in your business you'll get bored easily in my opinion and some CAS again isn't my style, same hairstyle just slightly different for my taste, i wished it was more like Ravenwood with a little more things to do

4: For Rent - i love the pack because you can build multiple houses or apartment or whatever in 1 lot, i still use them from time to time, i sometimes make a private bedroom for my household or 1 bedroom you have to share with 2 or 3 sims, kind of like an orphanage house or university house for teens and young adults, more building type is the main reason i rank it in the middle, i love Tomarang how it comes with a beach, sanctuary, a cave, a small night market, i love the hairstyle and i like some clothes, i love how it comes with 5 personalities (1 exclusive to elder) and 4 aspirations, b/b wise it's an Expansion Pack more personalities and aspiration wise too but they could've done better with the gameplay for my taste, you'd easily get bored after a bit in my opinion

5: Lovestruck - i like the idea of it because more love options and dramas, blind dating and social media dating but more often than not it's unnecessary because the bar becomes extremely low in no time, i wished they added atleast 1 new venue, a love venue or something, because all of the venues are either from earlier packs or in basegame worlds, it does comes with 1 lot trait so i guess that makes up for it, i love how it comes with both 2 aspirations (love related) and 2 personalities, i like the world in itself because i'm in for colourfull houses, i just wished they could've done better with the gameplay and without the relationship bar going too low in no time

6: High School Years - i like how it comes with a school based on teenagers but it's so boring, it doesn't have concequences, late to class? detention or do chores so you'll learn from your mistakes, late with after school activities? give off with a warning and if your teen comes in late again, it gets expelled, bully other sims? you get detention...this pack doesn't really comes with its concequences, i wished it came with concequences, maybe even have a word from its parent or other adult sims who takes care of their teenagers and confront them about their behaviours, they could've done better with gameplay, i love the CAS, personalities and aspirations and i love the world itself though, the social bunny is an another thing that bothers me but it's usefull if you want to keep your relationship alive (or make enemies in no time by using social bunny)

7: Horse Ranch - i like the world, it's so different from the rest of the world, i love how it comes with horses, nectar making, riding horses and horses have their own skills and very limited personalities, i use the growing grasses daily even without having horses, i use 2 aspirations in some occasions and same with 2 personalities, the CAS aren't my style and same with b/b items but out of the 7 recent packs, this is by so far the weakest pack because the gameplay is so limited if horses and nectar making isn't your thing, just my opinion

I'd have to categorize it by gameplay/new game mechanics vs build mode/CAS items

    Gameplay/New Game Mechanics:

    1. For Rent
    2. Growing Together
    3. Businesses & Hobbies
    4. Life & Death
    5. Lovestruck
    6. Horse Ranch
    7. High School Years [Going with the teens to school got kind of old pretty fast]

    Build Mode/CAS Items:

    1. Life & Death
    2. Businesses & Hobbies [be still my 70s and MCM loving heart]
    3. For Rent
    4. Lovestruck
    5. Growing Together
    6. High School Years
    7. Horse Ranch
  • Interesting question... Hmm... My ranking would be this:

    1. Life & Death
This is a really well done pack. It adds a new trait that challenges the player and adds ideas never seen before in previous The Sims games (rebirth, Reaper career, afterlifey world etc). It's a really interesting pack.
    2. Growing Together
Besides the fact that it has features that should be in the base game (milestones, compatibility etc), it's a nice pack. The world is nice, it has some nice interactions... Just this pack makes me want to make a thread on combining packs with the other packs in existence like Parenthood...
    3. Businesses & Hobbies
Still a fresh pack, but I see the ideas running. While my main gripe is that retail stores still exist, I see some differences between it. Plus it allows custom venues and home businesses. Hobbies part is small though...
    4. Lovestruck
Cupid's corner is nice, new romance systems to make the game challenging is nice. While Turn-on and Turn-off system is nice, I wish it included more physical attraction types like occult status. And there are not a lot of new other things... Oh, creepy phone calls.
    5. Horse Ranch
You get horses. You get ranches. You get nectar. You get new world. Enough said. But I do like that children can now ride horses. It's something they couldn't do in The Sims 3.
    6. For Rent
Based purely of disappointment. I make a lot of sims, but the worlds are small. It would have been a fantastic solution to finally be able to build my own apartments. But the first disappointment was the 100 unit per save limit. And sometimes Residential Rentals don't feel as alive as City Living apartment (which say sims coming out to throw out trash and check mail). And finally, the biggest issue: save corruption. I'm afraid to open up my save again. Oh reminds me of the times when people were afraid to play The Sims 2...
    7. High School Years
I just don't get it. I haven't been in an American high school, so that aspect doesn't resonate with me. I like the school is customizable at any time though. Social Bunny doesn't see a lot of cross-pack integration and it doesn't allow custom posts... Plus there are a lot of interactions children should be able to do because they could do those in the previous games (use photo booth, toss football), but nope, they can only enter the new attraction ride rabbit holes (the fact that it raises adult skills is not an issue anymore, but it used to be). The graduation ages up unplayed teens. Trendi doesn't seem good to me, I first felt like it would be a great system for temporary outfits, but no, the selection is limited and doesn't even care about sim's clothing preference. The after-school activities are rabbit holes and aren't as numerous (where's my newspaper club?). And the patch for it also included wants and fears, which didn't and still doesn't have a lot of wants and fears for the previous packs. Like what on earth? And why can't children buy boba tea? They have missing animation for inserting the straw as they'll stretch out to do so. Oh wow, this part has gone on for a long now.

So yeah, these are my rankings.

the other types style is a very interesting one because my main focus is mostly on gameplay so my rankings on CAS and Build mode might be different from my gameplay rankings

    CAS wise:
    1: For Rent
    2: High School Years
    3: Businesses & Hobbies
    4: Lovestruck
    5: Growing Together
    6: Life & Death
    7: Horse Ranch

    Build mode wise:
    1: High School Years
    2: Lovestruck
    3: Businesses & Hobbies
    4: Growing Together
    5: For Rent
    6: Life & Death
    7: Horse Ranch

not gonna lie, in all versions Horse Ranch is the weakest of the 7 and i'm not the dark themed style so that explains my 2nd last place on "Life & Death" but then again i'm mainly a gameplayer person so my rankings on that one still stands from a day earlier

except Horse Ranch and Businesses & Hobbies compared to gameplay ranks, it's completely different in CAS and Build mode ranks (i should probably do the rankings on each Expansion Packs not only in Gameplay like i mostly do but also the other 2 versions in CAS & Build mode)

  • While I do own all these packs, I haven't played yet with Horse Ranch and For Rent, so I can't rank them. Here's how I'd rank the rest:

    1. Life and Death. It does have so many cool ideas, I love the world, I love the new traits, the new careers are awesome, and even though I don't want any of my Sims to die, I'm looking forward to having a funeral. I also like that there's so much to explore, and the festivals are a nice touch, too.
    2. Growing Together. Having rec centers is such an asset, the milestones and generational gameplay add more depth, and I never thought a midlife crisis could actually be fun.
    3. Businesses & Hobbies. Now I haven't played that much with this one, but the first small business I've set up is working nicely. CaS, build/buy and world are gorgeous, and I love the idea that my Sims can turn every single skill of theirs into a small business. I have SO many ideas of what I want them to do.
    4. Lovestruck. Who would have thought that couple's therapy can be hilarious 😁 The new romantic interactions are awfully cute, I mean, the cuddling when a couple goes to bed? SO cute! Plus, having custom dates instead of the standard ones is amazing, and overall, I think the pack ties in nicely with My Wedding Stories and makes for very nice romantic gameplay. Also, Tartosa is incredibly gorgeous.
    5. High School Years. The actual gameplay at school is kinda meh, but I like the rides at the pier (two of my teen Sims were banned to go on the tunnel ride again because they derailed a cart when making out), and I like creating new outfits at the ThriftTea store. I gotta admit I haven't figured out what that upstairs room is meant for and personally, I think having a prom every week or a new principal every day is silly.

From Horse Ranch and For Rent, I only used CaS and build/buy items so far, but I plan to move the youngest daughter of my main household and her boyfriend to Chestnut Ridge once they've finished high school and got their college degrees, and another one of my Sims is on the brink of divorcing her husband and setting up house in Tomarang.
