- ChampandGirlie6 years agoSeasoned AceIt's way too early for me to be able to answer this but I think it is enhancing the game so far. I was honestly getting bored of just having sims age up to YA and go into jobs in the same ways as their parents. This makes more sense as a way to allocate jobs, knowing that some sims will still go straight into work. With the addition of simpler part-time jobs there is more differentiation between sim careers or lack thereof.
I went ahead with getting this pack whereas sometimes I wait. I was able to bundle it and it is helping the gameplay of teens to feel a bit less repetitive. I've just been playing a bit but I've jumped around a few households in order to figure out who I will send to university first. Currently I've been playing through a third daughter of Bjorn Bjergsen (he's long dead) named Estelle who is a B student. I switched over to her boyfriend, Dylan, who is closer to aging up. He's actually failing school which is rare because most students in my game tend to get solid As. Maybe it has gotten harder for teens or maybe Dylan is just a fluke. Anyway, I've had to turn aging off so he can get his grades up so that he'll hopefully scrape into Foxbury. I don't mind the challenge.
With the rotation, I'll be able to see how varied or replayable the pack is. I'm amazed by people who are already finishing university with a sim.
I definitely have more of a reason to work on skills for teens than prior to this. I used to kind of ignore them until they turned into YAs. - Joanne_Snow6 years agoLegendNot 100% sure yet if it's great or good but - I've been playing for so long & still feel there's much left to discover, so that's great. I played in a dorm first which was .. okay? I think next time I'll delete a couple of beds first, make it a tat less crowded. But they bring sooo much food, it's annoying. Playing off campus on my "home" lot / military base is a TON of fun though. I really think this pack adds a lot to other packs, which I'm very excited about. Will come back for a final rating, but I guess I'm hovering around a solid 8! :)
- Just got it and started playing today! I love it! It’s more challenging that other packs, which is something I’ve wanted for awhile. My only two issues so far:
1) I love playing on “3” speed while Sims are busy. It seems like the other NPCs dormies slow down 3 and sleeping speed. So it’s kind of a wall-starer when my main Sim is sleeping.
2) it doesn’t display the progress you’re making on a term paper, so it’s hard to reckon how much longer is left til it’s completed.
Pro tip: you can put food that other roomies leave around the dorm into your mini fridge for leftovers. Just as they added a Lock Computer feature, they should add a Lock Fridge feature because other dormies will come in and take the food! There’s usually enough left to not have to travel to the caf or eat microwave food for every meal, though.
Side note: some people have commented that the class schedule is hard to follow. If you have Seasons, your classes appear on the calendar. That’s a way easier way to see what’s coming up next!
Minor things, really. But it’s heaps of fun! ? - Wintermist6 years agoRising AceI wasn't expecting much of this pack because of precious packs but I was pleasantly surprised by what it came with. It's finally a real, proper expansion, one I actually didn't mind the price I paid. If this is what they'll be doing in the future it's definately a much brighter one, and I'll be playing a lot of Sims :)
- I am very pleased with this pack, it gives the right amount of challenge to keep my attention. Id say the only real downer is since buying it, my game has been glitchy. I am not sure though if it is the pack or the update, but I have a very well built gaming PC, so hoping with time they fix some issues.
- After a solid 12 hours in Uni, I definitely think this pack was worth the wait. I think it was done well and I'm satisfied with all of the items included as well as the interactions, the careers and the world.
- DoloresGrey6 years agoSeasoned AceIMO so far from what I've experienced it is a hard fat YES from me.
I always say I only buy packs on sale because they are very pricey in my country. Well, I said it this time either. In the evening of 15th I couldn't stand it and I bought the pack full price. It was my favorite pack in TS3 and I am not worried to say it is my favorite pack (after Get Together, obviously) in TS4.
It is very challenging and I love that!
I play with aging off because normally I play on normal and that would mean my sims would be at the end of they young adulthood if they took the shortest way. You need to complete 12 classes to get a degree and you can take 4 classes per term. A term lasts a week.
I recommend to take up to two classes if you want to experience university life to the fullest - side activites, etc. It takes a lot of time to do the homeworks, presentations, term papers...
Also, the tuition is really expensive. I can't believe I said it because before the pack came out I was saying the tuition is ridiculously low. Well, it isn't low at all. I was struggling a lot :D And I love it!
What I don't like, on the other hand, is that if you live on a dorm your sims WALK (or run, though it is still snaily slow) to the classes. The classes are 90 minutes long and it takes about 60 minutes to get to the building. Your sims need to go there early if you don't want to miss most of the class. I know this is not a popular opinion but I wish they just dissappeared at the elevator. I am a fan of closed world or whatever it is called in english.
I love it. I recommend it 100%.
Also, I am so so so glad the gurus on the deep dive livestream didn't tell us what the new death was! I experienced it the very first side activity meet up my sim had and I was so shook! It was so unexpected that I even forgot to beg Grim for mercy. Luckily it wasn't my sims but still. This is the best moment from the game. So far. I am very sure many more are to come yet.
Get Together is still my favorite. I am so sentimental about this one. Perhaps if I wouldn't Discover University would be the best one for me.
Also, I love the dorms. I love that your sim's family comes to visit sometimes. It must be so embarrassing for them :D If at least they gave your sim some money, lol. Or food! Other roomies get tons of food everyday. They kiss each other quite often and my sim is either embarrassed or disgusted. They fight a lot too. I love it.
Surprisingly I find most of the sims at dorms and around very attractive and well dressed.
And I love that if your sims are skilled enough they can give lectures to the ones that are not that skilled in the building where classes are happening. They even get some small ammount of money for that.
I love it. Don't hesitate and buy it. - I have been loving it!, I am at work now and can't wait to get back home to play some more, it is a good pack and worth the money
- alanmichael16 years agoSeasoned AceAfter 4 hours, I'm completely hyped and addicted. The bikes! The ping pong!! The atmosphere!!!
- EA nailed it! It really keeps me busy, unlike most of the expansion packs. The CAS items and BM items are just amazing! Some of the best, actually! And for this pack, I kept my hopes lower than all the other packs. For this pack, I under hoped I think. Don't get me wrong, It doesn't have absolutely everything I wanted. But if definitely gave plenty of stuff I didn't expect.
If you are thinking about getting it, I say get it. It definitely is the best expansion pack EA's done for the game in my honest opinion.
