LegacySims2017 The thing is, the Kleptomaniac trait is misnamed. Kleptomania is a mental health disorder about impulse control. It's not about stealing valuable items. In RL, kleptomaniacs usually take random items and hide them, return them, or give them away. But every gameplay video I've watched show Kleptomaniacs stealing to make money. It's like that crazy NAP in Eco Living: Sharing is Caring. In RL, that phrase means giving away, not taking. 🙃
The game needs to just call it like it is ... Thief! 😆
I think we as players contribute to that. 😁My last kleptomaniac Sim just stowed all the stuff he took into the personal inventory. Then I would sell it as I didn't want their inventory full of stuff. I'm sure others did the same thing. I did watch one video where the player purposely try and take things with the trait and then use all the stuff to furnish their own Sim's house.
My Giovanna was a kleptomaniac when I found and rescued her. She was in high school and I got her into afterschool activities and she would come home with posters and books like crazy. I finally figured out that I could click on them and make her return them. Before I realized they were stolen, and what made me realize, was when trying to place a cool poster in her room. And it wouldn't let me sell the stuff I don't think because it said it didn't belong to her so I couldn't clean her inventory like you were able to with your sim. Which was fine. I wasn't after the money for her because I was making her earn it the hard way lol. Sims knew she was stealing though and I would see messages or texts, I can't remember, and I was like omg. So that is one time I did go in and change a trait on a sim because it was killing me. I often wonder would it have been possible for her to request to change it herself once she had enough money that she could pay bills without taking loans from Diego and having to pay him back. I'm going to have to research that for future reference because I really don't like to force something that way.
