Realism on a fantastic background. Supernaturals exist and are acknowledged (ranging from aliens being the most normal and the monster under the bed the most mysterious). But as long as my sims behave like human beings, the game feels realistic to me. For example I won't invite a stranger my sim has just met to my sim's b-day party, even though the game would allow me to.
